ABOUT ME

V. Harshini Buddhiraju moved from India at the age of 7 and moved to Philadelphia at 18 to attend film school. At Temple University, she discovered and nurtured her passion for directing. She created the short project, “Late Night Laundry,” which was an official selection for the Diamond Screen Women’s Film Festival. After her acceptance into the Directing BFA Concentration, Harshini wrote and directed “Within Our Reflections,” her official directorial debut. Harshini’s goal is to incorporate her experience as an immigrant and woman of color to create impactful projects that include diverse voices and experiences.

"Human relationships have always been a curiosity of mine. I like exploring connections between people and the result of failed expectations. In my life, I’ve observed that human relationships are complicated, hard, and sometimes painful.

I was 7 when my family moved to the United States, and there were periods in my childhood where I saw little to no Indian representation on screen. As I grow as a filmmaker, it is clear to me I want to share stories showcasing my culture and experience.

I have been studying Film and Media Arts at Temple University for the past 4 years and I am so grateful for all opportunitites that have come my way. I am incredibly excited to end my journey as a student in Los Angeles this summer."
